What's special about it

It's a team of 1 GrubbmOgre (brains) and 4 GrubbmGrunts (muscles).

Great, I want to try it. Where can I download it?

mini.GrubbmGroup: http://www.robocoderepository.com/BotDetail.jsp?id=2483

How competitive is it?

Due to the number of contenders it will reach approx #10 in TeamRumble?.

How does it move?

Every teammember moves on its own, but when it collides, it bounces off.

How does it fire?

Every teammember fires on its own, but tries to hold fire when a teammate gets in the way.

How does it dodge bullets?

Does it have a Team strategy?

No, it is just a bunch of individuals and one of them has a megaphone.

How does it select a target to attack/avoid in Team?

Closest per individual or weakest when nearby.

What does it save between rounds and matches?

Where did you get the name?

I just love the sound of 'GR'.

Can I use your code?

It's in the jar.

What's next for your team?

- A real melee/team movement, probably anti-gravity.

Does it have any WhiteWhales?

SampleTeam? and myl.Troodon.

What other robot(s) is it based on?

GrubbmOne and GrubbmTwo for movement and targetting, myl.Troodon for team-communication.

20050307: v 0.4 Mini -- 1 GrubbmOgre v0.4 and 4 GrubbmGrunts v0.5
Rank :7 -- Rating:1622 -- PL:8
Comment: Tweaking gives small improvements against everyone. My current movement leaves no room for further improvement.

20050211: v 0.3 Mini -- 1 GrubbmOgre v0.3 and 4 GrubbmGrunts v0.4
Rank :10 -- Rating:1592 -- PL:8
Comment: A better movement takes me very close to 7th place. Only radnor (and some blind guys) keep giving me trouble.

20050204: v 0.2 Mini -- 1 GrubbmOgre v0.2 and 4 GrubbmGrunts v0.3
Rank :12 -- Rating:1477 -- PL:12
Comment: Although quite an improvement against some problemteams, no progress in ranking (thanks Rozu!) ;-

20041231: v 0.1 Mini -- 1 GrubbmOgre v0.1 and 4 GrubbmGrunts v0.2
Rank :12 -- Rating:1411 -- PL:11
Comment: My best ranking ever ! ! !(alas with only 17 contenders). I will not rest until I reach the top-10.

Comments, questions, feedback:

sorry for making no progress in the rankings. I just wanted to add a micro team above the TroodonPack... -- rozu

no hard feelings. I wanted to do the same with a mini team and I do give TroodonPack (the only team I tested against) a hard fight. Alas the other teams are not really cooperating to reach my goal. Just one more reason to try to develop the 'ultimate move and gun', or something that distantly looks like it . . . --GrubbmGait

congratulation for reaching the top ten. rank number 7 should be no problem with a little bit tuning. Are you planing to do something against friendly fire? none of my teams has something implemented to prevent friendly fire. I did it in former versions of AlephTeam? and GlowingHawks but this wasn't really good for the melee movement this teams are based on... Looking at your team I would do something that the bots in your team move further away from each other this will result in less friendly fire damage and even more important the other team won't have such a good chance to land a lucky hit. -- rozu

Thanks, I am experimenting to hold my fire when a teammate is closer and in the radar-arc, but it does not seem to pay off yet. I know the main problem lies in my movement, it is completely ignorant of teammates and opponents, so it just as good as a blind and deaf ballroomdancer. I will probably tweak until I reach rank #7 before trying a more adaptive movement. You probably know the routine, so much to do and so little time. Congratulations btw with the best mini-team, you really cut down GlowingHawks' size to get it fit. --GrubbmGait

Really nice. If only one team for each coder would be allowed this would be a top 5 team!!! By the way, if you intend to introduce a new melee movement I would upload it with a new team. I mean you could call this the best team without anti gravity ;-) -- rozu
