* disabling eye-candy and unnecessary services was the first thing I did after installing WindowsXP ;-p. I think my problem is video-card driver related. I get ~80FPS (not minimized) in windows '98 only when I run in 16-bit colour, and 30-40 when in 32-bit colour mode. In WindowsXP I get 30 FPS regardless of video-mode. Perhaps in WindowsXP, the videocard drivers always compute everything in 32-bit colours, and downscales afterwards, if video mode is set to 16 bit???? --Dummy |
