Caedo

A OneOnOne specialist, the first MegaBot by Rational Insanity.

Current verson: 1.4 (2002 12 17)

This bot basically used the most popular ideas available at the time and combined them in a rather disorganized and buggy manner. However, it still managed to peak at about 11th or 12th on the EternalRumble, before beginning a long slide to where it is now.

Soon after this version was released, I took a break from Robocode to concentrate on my final year of high school, so that I could end up in one of the most brutal engineering programs in Canada.

I don't intend to make further updates, as it was coded with complete disregard for good programming style. A new minibot would probably do better.

Aiming

• Primarily relies upon the GuessFactor strategy, with a few problems added. :P

Movement

• Random side-to-side movement.
• Due to a bug in the movement code, Caedo had problems at long distances. To compensate, Caedo advances towards its opponent by turning 20 degrees from the perpendicular.

Bugs

• It occasionally freezes at the beginning of a battle. I haven't found the source of the bug, but don't intend to.
