- Small, black, shiny and deadly (well, not) - by PEZ
What's special about it?
It's my first MicroBot
. It can hardly hit the boundaries of the battle field.
Great, I want to try it. Where can I download it?
How competitive is it?
It ranks #70 in EternalRumble
all weight classes and #18 amongst MicroBots
. This is probably all due the movement it shares with Gouldingi
How does it move?
How does it fire?
It remembers the angular movement of the enemy bot it has fired upon. About every third bullet. This angular movement is then somewhat randomized and used for aiming. Don't do this. BlackWidow
proves how useless it is.
No dodging here.
How does the melee strategy differ from one-on-one strategy?
How does it select a target to attack/avoid in melee?
It doesn't choose. I guess it's useless gun is even more useless in Mellee?
What does it save between rounds and matches?
Nothing really. Though statics make less codesize so all bot variables are static and thus saved between rounds.
Where did you get the name?
Well, I don't like spiders very much and a BlackWidow
is as deadly as spiders get.
Can I use your code?
I doubt you really want to, but it's here: /Code
What's next for your robot?
Make it a gun that works.
What other robot(s) is it based on?
I started out with a copy of Gouldingi
, but there's almost nothing left of it there. Except some of its movement.
Comments, questions, feedback
This bot gave the original version of FloodMini
a really hard time if I remember right. FloodMini
could beat almost everyone else in the Robocode Outpost rookie and semi-pro leagues, but played eerily close battles against BlackWidow
. A few versions later, it beats most of the RO Pro league, too :-p -- Kawigi
I really should make her a new gun. FloodMini must be the only bot she has posed problems for. Problem is that I would like BlackWidow to stay a micro and then I have no clue how to fit a gun there. -- PEZ
You could be like Avipes and the new FloodMicro and stick a nano-pattern-matcher in there ;-) -- Kawigi
